Description

Flat shape, freestanding Garden Obelisk for Roses & Clematis

As far back as colonial times, the great country estates of North America’s East Coast were known for the splendour of their parks and gardens, many of them inspired by the traditions of English garden architecture. The Burlington Garden Obelisk takes its name from a free-standing wooden frame found in a garden in Burlington, New Jersey. Classic Garden Elements has produced a faithful metal replica of the original. The curved frame around a pattern of squares was also popular in the 18th century.

When placed in front of a wall, the flat shape Burlington Garden Obelisk seems to be directly attached to it, even though there is no contact. You may at some time wish to plant a house wall or dull grey garage bordering on your property. Getting permission to drill the holes you will need to attach a wall trellis is not always easy. However, the flat shape sturdy iron Burlington Garden Obelisk, which is anchored in the ground, can help to overcome this obstacle. The solid anchor, which is not unlike an old-fashioned shoe scraper, ensures that this flat shape garden obelisk is completely stable, offering a good alternative to a wall trellis for anyone wishing to conceal an unattractive surface behind a sheet of colour and foliage.

Standing free in the middle of a pastel-coloured herbaceous border, the Burlington Garden Obelisk is no less elegant an eye-catcher – the perfect host for a playful display of clematis, sweet pea or morning glory. For scrambling climbers, the square lattice provides sufficient support. Roses, however, will need to be tied to the trellis, preferably at a slight angle to ensure that they bloom copiously from the bottom up. For the best results, choose wide-spreading shrub roses with long shoots which need support.

Flat shape garden obelisks as useful screens

Thanks to their flat shape, the Burlington Garden Obelisks are a practical means of dividing a garden into different sections. And if a number of flat shape garden obelisks are placed in a row and planted with creeper, they can quickly become a screen to shield your privacy. If you are looking for an effective but airy way to keep your compost or dustbins out of sight, this delightful flat shape garden obelisk is the ideal solution.
