Freestanding metal obelisk – a way to add levels to your garden
When it comes to designing a garden, it is important to consider what will add height to the space and what will stand at a lower level. Planning different levels for your garden is just as important as considering what structures you would like to incorporate into the design.
Standing at over 250 cm, this metal garden obelisk is the perfect way to add height and will quickly and easily give your garden a makeover! It won’t take long before you’ve got glorious walls of blooming flowers and magical floral spaces. Wonderful as they are, trees would take years to reach this kind of height. In summer, covered in flowers, it becomes a living wall of flowers and foliage, whilst in winter it stands proud in and of itself, a modern design feature to admire and enjoy.
So why not get creative and design the garden of your dreams? All of our garden obelisks are available to buy online in our online shop. Or, if you have an image of your perfect plant obelisk in mind but can’t find quite the right thing in our online shop, then you can also send us your ideas – or photographs of your garden – and we’ll design you a bespoke metal obelisk that fits your unique specifications.
Firmly securing a metal garden obelisk into the ground
The Boston Garden Obelisk, which stands at more than 2.5 m in height and is 48 cm wide, comes with two solid ground anchors. Along with the garden obelisk, these anchors are placed into a pre-prepared hole in the ground. The metal obelisk then needs to be temporarily secured by placing wooden supports or large stones into the hole to hold the structure upright. Once it is secure, use a plumb line and spirit level – or a laser level – to make sure the garden obelisk is perfectly vertical. Once you’re happy – 100% happy – that it is in the right position, pour quick-setting concrete into the hole. Make sure that the metal obelisk cannot move whilst the concrete sets. This will ensure that your freestanding garden obelisk is stable and well-secured into the ground.
If you do not feel confident doing this kind of garden work yourself, we recommend seeking professional assistance, such as from a local landscape gardening company. All of our freestanding garden obelisks are delivered to you with the parts you need to safely anchor the structure into the ground. For large, bespoke rose obelisks, Classic Garden Elements can even carry out the installation for you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. All of the photos on our website were either taken by us during the production process or were taken by our happy customers.
