Stable Wall Trellis in Two-Pack
The Modern Trellis is a simple, functional and totally reliable support for climbing roses and clematis. Made to the highest standards of craftsmanship, this wrought-iron support frame belongs to a class of its own. Even when not planted, it adds character and style to a monotonous wall. Once covered in flowers, it can create a harmonious link between house and garden.
Vigorous climbing roses will appreciate the stability of this modern trellis, the elegant iron cousin of the more rustic wooden variety. Unlike a wooden frame, however, a metal trellis will not need to be treated annually with protection agents (some of which can be at least partially toxic). The 10-centimetre gap between frame and façade prevents dampness by allowing air to circulate freely. To make pruning easier, strong shoots should always be planted on the outside of the frame and not allowed to grow in and out of the latticework.
Smarten up your walls with the Modern Trellis
The Modern Trellis is ideal for anyone wanting to improve the appearance of a house wall.
Trellises can be attached to a façade singly, or in pairs or groups. Mounted on either side of a front door and planted with creepers in full bloom, they extend a welcome to approaching visitors. Attached to a dull garage wall, the classic square latticework can work wonders. Even when left unplanted, the Modern Trellis exudes craftsmanship and unpretentious elegance, and will visibly raise the tone of the surrounding area.
Plants will grow up the trellis quickly. Within a short time, hardy climbers will have bridged the gap between the soil where they are planted and the bottom of the trellis. With regular pruning, and with the training of the shoots on the frame, it will not be long before you can enjoy both colour and fragrance in abundance. If you choose annual creepers such as morning glory, sweet pea, cup and saucer vine, nasturtiums, scarlet runner beans or black-eyed Susan, you can use garden planters beneath the trellis to provide both space and nutrients. This will help to ensure speedy growth, bringing you one step closer to the garden of your dreams.
Design rooted in the ‘Bauhaus’ movement of the 1920ties
The design for our Modern Trellises for Walls is based on the ideas of the Bauhaus Movement. This Movement of the 1920ties basically aimed to create objects and buildings which were suitable for mass manufacture. It used comparatively simplistic forms with little decoration which could be made quickly and efficiently. The Bauhaus Movement believed that objects should be functional, and meet the demands of society. Quiet a few of its followers aimed to create a ‘universal aesthetic’ or an ‘International style’ appropriate for all countries, regardless of culture or tradition.
