Some of the most striking elements of Romanesque buildings are round-top arches and round-arched windows. If you compare the round-top arches of the Pisa Cathedral or the Lucca Cathedral with the shape of the Portofino Garden Arch, you will immediately see the similarities! The proportions of the Portofino’s arch are just as harmonious and pleasing to the eye as the cathedral arches are. With its steel frame and delicate latticework arch trellis, this gorgeous garden archway is sure to impress. The magnificent Portofino Garden Arch is available to buy online in three different sizes, which have varying widths and heights. The depth of all of these models is 52 cm. The frame of this large garden archway is made from 2- and 4-cm pieces of steel tubing, which are then welded together by hand. The delicate diamond-shaped latticework arch trellis is made from 1.5-cm steel bands. The interplay of these contrasting elements – the thicker frame and the more delicate latticework – characterises this striking metal arch. The surface-level finish of the metal garden arch – its black powder coating – adds to its exclusivity. This is work carried out by hand and with great care. Although the Portofino Garden Arch is produced as standard in black matt, upon request we can also powder coat it in a different colour and even produce it in a different size. Freestanding garden arches with planters and arbour seats

Some of the Portofino Garden Arch sets feature freestanding garden arches that, rather than being anchored into the ground, are supported on each side by an incredibly solid Versailles garden planter. The advantage of this is that the freestanding Portofino Garden Arch can simply be positioned on any flat area of ground without the need to dig foundations. The ground below it remains untouched and if you fancy moving the rose arch to a different position each season, you can! If you prefer, you can also buy the Portofino Garden Arch with a double gate, as a freestanding garden arch with planters, or as a garden arch with metal garden fencing. The sets consisting of a rose arch, gate and metal garden fencing can be integrated to great effect into hedges and fences, where they add an element of interest and soften the overall feel of the space. All of our garden archways, including the sets, come with everything you need to install your new garden structure, including ground anchors, which need to be cemented into the ground at a frostproof depth (around 80–100 cm) so that the garden arch is nice and stable.
